I was born in the small town of Varniai, Lithuania, the eldest daughter of Ephraim and Yocheved Olshvang. I was followed by my brothers Yankele, Meir and Hersheleh, and had a happy childhood among my nuclear and extended family.

Our peaceful lives were abruptly cut short when Nazi Germany occupied Lithuania. As a 12-year-old girl, I lost almost all my family and was left alone in the world, with only my aunt Taybeh by my side. Together, against all the odds, we managed to survive the war years.

After the war, Baila, my other aunt who had been in Russia during the war, returned to Lithuania and discovered that we were still alive. Taybeh and I joined her and her husband, and began a new life together in the city of Siauliai.
During my last year of school, I met Moshe Karpuch, a handsome young Jew. We married and had two daughters, Aneta and Milona. In 1956, we first applied to emigrate to Israel, and ten years later received approval, left our lives in Siauliai and set out to start a new life, again.

In Israel, I worked for many years with love and dedication as a hairdresser, and later as a teacher to many generations of students. I had a good life with Moshe, who was my partner and best friend, and we were blessed with wonderful daughters and enchanting grandchildren.
